BCT became a member of the Smart City Forum for the Central and Eastern European countries

In early October, BCT became a member of the Smart City Forum for the Central and Eastern European countries. The Forum is an EU initiative aimed at accelerating investment, growth and innovation in European cities in order to achieve social, economic and environmental goals. Surveys show that in the Central and Eastern Europe region people would like to see accelerating regional economic growth and prosperity at the level of Western European countries. Intelligent urban activities are among the areas where our region can improve urban life and conditions with relatively small investment.

The goals of the forum are:

- to facilitate and develop mutually beneficial cooperation between Central and Eastern Europe;

- provide a forum for sharing the knowledge and good practices created by forum members as well as cities participating in members' activities;

- promote the deployment of smart cities solutions in our cities;

- promote exchanges and cooperation between the academic community and municipal entities;

- promoting research, development and innovation activities in the field of smart cities in the region of Central and Eastern Europe;

At present, 16 organizations are members of the Forum, the following seven countries are represented: Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia and Slovenia, and organizations from Croatia and Poland are expected to join soon.
